FIND YOUR LUXURY AT HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE WAIKIKI
Knowing where to stay for your upcoming holiday to Hawaii can get a little overwhelming and I’ve said this often; with so many websites vying for my attention it can totally put me off and often I feel like giving up. But let me make this easier on you. If you’re looking for a little bit of luxury when you arrive in Oahu, look no further than the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki. Yes, Waikiki is a little bit like the Gold Coast in Australia – it’s chaotic and flanked with tourists. But it’s also part of the appeal because you actually feel like you’re on holidays. Aloha Forgetting Sarah Marshall!
Set in the heart of Waikiki Beach, Hilton Hawaiian Village is located amid lush tropical gardens and fragrant flowers, and is one of the most spectacular resorts I’ve stayed at. So how do I know you’ll also fall in love with Hilton Hawaiian Village?
• Treat yourself and book a room in the Ali’i Tower; a private hotel with concierge services and elegant Hawaiian touches. Exclusive amenities include a private check-in lobby, access to the ocean front private pool terrace and fitness centre. • With over 20 restaurants and bars, you won’t go hungry if you feel like relaxing at the hotel all day and all night. Enough said! • You can unwind and pool hop to five glistening swimming pools of your choice, including Waikiki’s largest Super Pool, the multilayered Paradise Pool featuring dramatic waterfalls, and the longest water slide in Waikiki. Um, fun. • Or you can spend your day with the sand between your toes and swimming in the crystal clear salty water at Waikiki Beach, which is just a hop and a step from your hotel room. • Spend an evening enjoying the Waikiki Starlight Luau, a beautiful fusion of music, drums, drama and dance portraying the colour and magic of Hawaii’s beautiful heritage. • Enjoy Fright Night Fireworks over Waikiki Beach aloha-style, or simply throw on your cutest dress or sharpest shirt and hit one of the many bars in the Village. • Relax on Waikiki Beach whilst watching the famous Hawaiian sunset with a beer or a pina coloda in hand. • And did you know…the Hilton Hawaiian Village even has a cute chapel in case you want to lock that lady down in marriage before you head home. Dunn, dunn, dunn dunnnnn.
My biggest tip? Save a little extra and get that ocean view room. It’s totally worth it and there is nothing better than being able to watch the sunrise and sunset from the comfort of your balcony.
GETTING THERE Need to find a flight to Hawaii? Too easy! I highly recommend flying with Hawaiian Airlines, they’re no fuss no frills approach really appealed to me. Find out more here. When you arrive at the airport, grab a hire car from Alamo and make your way past Pearl Harbour to Waikiki. The drive will take about 20 minutes or so in good traffic. And trust me, traffic can get a little intense in Waikiki so make sure you’ve switched to island time.
