FOUR REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO VISIT THE PARACAS SAND DUNES IN PERU
If you’ve been following my travels on Instagram, then you’ll know I’ve just come back from two blissful weeks in Peru. Part of my trip saw me explore Paracas, 270km south from the capital city of Lima, and most notably, the otherworldly Paracas sand dunes. If you plan on visiting Peru and are in two minds as to visit the Paracas Sand Dunes, read on. I'll convince you. #1 - FOR THE ADVENTURE If you love adventure and sand dunes – like me – then a spin around the dunes in a 4WD with Tikariy is a must. I was picked up at my hotel by my driver who I later nicknamed ‘Sand King’ for his innate ability to read the terrain like a pro. As we blazed across the desert, up and down steep sand dunes, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was on Peru’s version of a roller coaster. Can I get a hell yes!
#2 - FOR DINNER IN THE DESERT Dinner in the desert? Yes please! Part of the tour includes a sunset dinner under a huge tent with Peruvian carpets, lanterns and delicious local food. Cannot believe I have been able to tick this off my bucket list!
#3 - FOR THE SUNSET Sunset in Peru is unlike any other I’ve come across, and let alone sunset over the Paracas sand dunes. With the sun casting moody yet romantic shadows across the desert and dunes, it was a moment I’ll never forget.
#4 - FOR THE WIDE OPEN SPACES What inspires me most about travel is nature. I’ve explored some beautiful, wild and vast landscapes this year and the Paracas sand dunes is high up on my list. No matter which direction I looked, all I could see were cascading sand dunes and not a soul in sight. Absolute bliss.
So where in Paracas should you stay?
