I've been back in Sydney for a over a week now and it feels like my holiday in Bali was a lifetime ago. My days were spent exploring the beautiful island, swimming in the ocean, eating Indonesian food, relaxing by the pool, drinking every cocktail under the sun, meeting the beautiful locals and catching up on a lot of reading. As it was my first time in Bali, Seminyak was the perfect base to explore Bali. A bustling corner of paradise in Bali, Seminyak has everything you need - shopping, fine dining, markets, bars, villas, cafes, beaches and free wifi - everywhere. Now I am not an expert on Seminyak but I thought I would at least share my top tips if you plan on visiting the area.

Shopping Bali is well known for its incredibly well made clothes and access to gorgeous fabrics. Therefore shopping in Bali is a lot of fun, and reasonably well priced. You just have to know where to look. If you're happy to cruise the shops, the best place to start is on Jl Oberoi and Jl Petitengent. A few Australian labels, such as Shakuhachi and The People Vs, also have boutiques.

Where do I start? If there is one thing Bali does right, then it's food. Not only is it absolutely delicious, it is dead cheap. You only have to read about my experience at Metis here to understand why. For the best restaurants you need look no further than Metis, Sarong and Sardine. For the best lunch spots Sea Circus, Zucchini and Motel Mexicola win hands down.

Massages For the best massages in Seminyak, got to Body Works. For a 90min massage, you won't be paying more than AUD$35. Motel Mexicola and Sea Circus are just next door and around the corner from Body Works, so you can treat yourself to some margaritas post bliss out session. Make sure you get the passion fruit and guava margies at Sea Circus, they are out of this world delicious and super strong.

Leather If you want to get something made in leather, whether that be clothes, shoes or bags, TB Leather on Jl Abimanyu No.11A is the only place you need to visit. These guys look after some of the best fashion labels in Australia so you know you're in good hands. And they do everything painstakingly by hand out of their tiny studio. I got a black leather skirt made to size for only AUD$90; I just took in an example and voila! In Australia this skirt would cost me around $400 so I am quite happy knowing my money is going to the right people, those who actually made the skirt. And now my amazing leather skirt is now taking pride of place in my wardrobe.

Cocktails Watching the sun set over the beach in Seminyak is just gorgeous, and even better with friends and cocktails in both hands at a beach club. Potato Head Beach Club is a must (see more here) as is ordering their Indos Nesos cocktail. And Ku De Ta. Don't miss these beach clubs, you'll regret it. For a quieter version of sunset cocktails, make sure you check out La Plancha and order the tuna carpaccio.
