5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO STAY WITH CENTARA CEYSANDS IN SRI LANKA
There is nothing quite like arriving at a hotel in the dark at 3am in the morning after two long haul flights and a long layover in-between; I am usually dead tired and want to face plant my pillow. But this time was different because I was staying with Centara Ceysands in Sri Lanka, my favourite hotel group in Asia. The mystery of this beautiful country, which I had yet to see and discover, was already intriguing me. However, my body clock had other ideas and before I knew it, I was in my room, I had fallen into my (glorious) king sized bed, face planted the (divine) collection of fluffy pillows and was fast asleep. Awaking with a sudden fright, I had that all too familiar experience of wandering where on earth I was – this happens quite a lot as a travel blogger. Not long before this trip I was in Hawaii then Australia, and now Sri Lanka. Remembering I was in Sri Lanka and staying at Centara Ceysands, I jumped out of bed and raced to open the curtains, which lead out onto a balcony overlooking Bentota Beach – and I gasped. Read on to find out what had given me such a reaction!
THE VIEW Ok you got me, the reason why I gasped was because of the incredible view of Bentota Beach. What struck me right away was how private and pristine it was; if this was Australia, there would be hundreds of people taking up every inch of sand. But not here in Sri Lanka.
THE ROOM As always with Centara, my room was first class. I often speak about that moment when you open the door to a hotel room and in the first second you know whether or not you’re about to find yourself in an incredibly beautiful space; well, this is always the case with Centara. My room was sectioned into two areas, the living area with a large balcony, and the master bedroom with a huge bathroom and another balcony. To say I was in heaven was an understatement.
THE LOCATION Located in the Southern Province, Centara Ceysands sits on Bentota Beach (amazing) and is only a couple of hours from Colombo and an hour or so (pending on traffic) from Galle and Unawatuna. So for those of you looking to experience life as a local, you have to visit Galle!
THE FOOD The food at Centara is always mind blowing; with a daily breakfast buffet that changes its menu each morning, to multiple restaurants for lunch and dinner, I was unashamedly spoilt for choice. I was also treated to a Sri Lankan cooking class where I made a (very) delicious coconut prawn curry where I may have licked the bowl clean…
THE POOL Think it doesn’t get any better? Well it does. The swimming pool at Centara Ceysands is one of the best I’ve been to. It has loads of day beds (essential), palm trees rustling in the warm breeze above and a bar which guests can swim up to and order drinks and food. Heaven!
