A BYRON BAY ESCAPE. A LUXURY STAY AT THE VILLAS IN BYRON.
You may have noticed on Instagram I recently asked for places to explore, landscapes to photograph and things to see and do in Byron Bay and the surrounding hinterland in New South Wales, Australia. Well it’s for good reason! I have recently relocated from Sydney and will be spending a lot of time here in Byron. Even though I grew up in Brisbane, I’m excited to be back to explore the Byron region and hinterland. It’s been years since I was here (moving to London and Sydney for five years can do that) for an extended period of time and there is so much to discover.
But first, where to stay?
The accommodation choices in Byron Bay are far and wide, from private villa’s with ocean views to beachside camping spots, and rental houses nestled in the hinterland and hotels showing off their central location, there is something for everyone and every budget.
For my return to Byron, I organised my accommodation with luxury holiday booking website Alluxia. I’ve stayed in Jervis Bay and the Blue Mountains (both NSW) with Alluxia and I am always utterly impressed with the selection of beautiful house rentals and boutique hotels on offer – exactly my style!
Peace, privacy and complete escape was what I was looking for and as soon as I came across The Villas of Byron in my search, I knew I had found what I was looking for. Byron can get a little hectic, especially in holiday season. And whilst I love the hippie hustle and bustle, which Byron is so well known for, I wanted to completely switch off, relax and unwind.
The Villas of Byron have five exclusive villas to choose from, and I stayed in the 2 Bedroom Grand Villa. Upon arrival a hostess walked me through a double handcrafted Javanese door and welcomed me into my generously sized and immaculately designed villa. She showed me around the ornate Balinese style villa, and pointed out some of the luxury features including two large bedrooms with a large bathtub and double vanity in both, a spacious open planned lounge and chef worthy kitchen area, an opulent outdoor entertaining area, state of the art BBQ, private heated swimming pool, 30 degree spa, two outdoor rain showers, and the many luxury amenities including two robes from Spell Boutique, which is located just down the road from the villas.
The weather on arrival was perfect for a day of guilt free indulging – overcast, cold and rainy, somewhat of a rarity in Byron Bay, even in winter. After I unpacked my bags, there was really only a couple of things left to do; go for a swim, enjoy a glass of bubbly in the spa, catch up on reading on the day sofa outside, and enjoy the views of my own private rainforest. And that’s exactly what I did, on repeat.
But wait! After spending a few days resting, relaxing and unwinding, you might want to tear yourself away from the sanctuary of your private villa - at least for a little bit. As there is so much of Byron to explore, things to see and do, and places to dine, I am currently writing a Quick Travel Guide to Byron. It will feature a few of my favourites spots including Jumanji, Lennox Heads, Folk Café, The Farm, Brunswick Heads, Hope & May, Bay Leaf, The Pass, Harvest, Cape Byron Lighthouse, The Roadhouse, Tallows Beach, Rae’s at Watego’s, the Byron hinterland and more. So make sure you sign up to my newsletter to be the first to find out when I publish the guide - you will be able to download it for free, print and take along with you on your trip to Byron!
